Narrative - Frankie Feinstein

Narrative - Frankie Feinstein.
These are the images I presented for my narrative module. I have decided to print these photographs for my print box. I will be printing these in A4 and inserting them into print sleeves. This technique will help me achieve a professional form of presentation to clients.

Printbox Ordered

I've ordered my A4 print box with a pack of 10 sleeves. Thankfully I ordered this on silverprint via a girl from my university. This was a big help money wise as we got a discount due to the size of the order. I ended up paying just under £45 which is brilliant news. Also I've also made a start printing my portfolio out too.

Prints
I was going to be printing onto A4 semi gloss paper and leaving roughly an inch boarder around the outside. This was because when clients handle your work they do not damage the actual image itself and getting finger prints on the image is minimised.

I decided to choose sleeves to present my work in rather than using achival tissue. The main reason for this was i can get a full A4 size print for clients to look at this way without compromising the size of my final images. These final prints will be easy to handle and look through and minimal damage will be caused.

Brand Spanking New Website - Sqare Space

I had to change the laout of my website because I wasn't happy with it. unfortunately this has set me back a few days I have managed to make up the time and I have created a new design. this design looks a lot better and is much easier to edit and change in the future.

Like the last website deisgn I have the basics, except this time I have added separate galleries which, to me is easy to navigate between.

Print box and portfolio.

I have decided to buy an A4 print box to display my portfolio. all of my work for my narrative project was printed A4 so i believe having the series of 6 images printed exactly the same or having an inch border will be perfect. i with be using sleeves rather than archival tissue to protect my work. The reason for this is I would prefer the series to be viewed in a solid order and be similar to a book format. The original ideas came from a book and this is a brilliant way to display a narrative.

Re-thinking website design

I've decided to re design my website using photo space. This is because the gallery options are better with more extensive research. There are more ways to personalise it as well and I've decided if I'm going to have a website I need to make it right! Tomorrow I will be redesigning the site, and hopefully making it live.

Business cards

Another important factor when building a website is making sure your business card and website match. I already have a business card with some information including home number mobile number and my name and email.

When someone uses your business card to access your website they'll be holding it as they search for it. The way I see it, if the customer see s the business card first and then sees the website is identical in the colour scheme that will A. Look very professional and B. they'll almost feel as through they know it and are used to the certain colours and text.

Website Pricing

This website has quoted me £67.90 for 2 years, this includes my own domain name (www.peteraves.com), advertising to get myself known/higher up on the seach engines pages, and the ability to edit and change the website whenever I want. This is a very good price for the advantages involved.

Portfolio Boxes

Portfolio Boxes

Portfolio boxes are used to display work to a profession standard for clients. The boxes come in various aspect ratios, from 4x6 all the way up too 20x24 and beond. The difficulty when it comes to purchasing a folio box is getting the right ratio for you and your work. A choice between printing your work to fit the box or printing your work out to a size that looks best for that piece of work is a hard desicion to make, my initial thought was to prioritise the work. for instance print the work to a a good size but then analysing that further, I came to the conclution that i would end up buying different sized print boxes for different series of work. Although that sounds ideal, the price is against me! The prices range from £15 to £140 without postage and although on first hearing this doesn't sound bad, the process of buying more and more will become ridiculous.

After looking into sizing and getting some advise from my tutors, I now know that a decent sized folio box ranges from A4 to A3. A3 is a good size to be able to carry around without too much hasstle and also a good size for most of my prints.

What Makes A Good Webisite

What Makes A Good Photography Website

To me, photography and art websites have to be tactile and user friendly. They must combine ease of use with a beautiful display. The two websites I have mentioned so far dipict these brilliantly. the use of the arrow keys to scroll through galleries, diplay work and make the viewing process very intermate. The full screem mode for the website again, imerces you completely into the work itself without Facebook messages flashing and alerts honking as you are viewing.

Another aspect to be aware of is how the website is viewed between tablets, computers and mobile phones. This has been a problem for years when it comes to flash based websites. Flash is format of website that uses software only found on a Mac or PC. This is a disadvantage for clients who use tablets and mobile phones on the go. The advantage of an HTML website is the web design websites can offer you a free design service and these will be compatible between media.

There are many different websites used to build a website i have been looking at, they include; WIX, Weebly, Moonfruit and clickpic. The website I am most interested in using for my final website is Weebly. This is because it's free, easy to design and alter layouts and you have more customisation options than say, clickpic. I want a simple layout for my website that includes a title bar.

About Me
Get In Touch

Inside the "Home" tab it should have basic information about what I am interested in helping clients with and what part of photography I will be able to asist with.

The "Portfolio" tab will have multiple galleries inside. The galleries will feature different Genres and styles to show clients that I am a very versatile photographer.

"About Me" is litrally a tab that will tell clients what i do.

"Get In Touch" will include a link to my contact details for clients that are interested in getting in touch for work or advise.

I will be designing layouts over coming days and blogging as I progrogress.

Reeve Banks Photography Website

I have chosen this website to use in my reseach because it has full screen capabilities. This feature, like the previous website by Toledano is a simple aspect to the website which, for me reenforces the professionalism of the business. I also admire the gallery type display for the images on the right hand side, this is easy to work and navigate between. Not only can the viewer fullscreen the website and easily navigate through images, we can also view the photographs in a larger format which helps clients understand work in the finest detail.

Philip Toredano - Days With My Father

I love Philip Toledano's website because of how user friendly it is. There is no messing around. It's extremely simple design compliments his sensitive body of work well and interested me. the design is the main focus of this website. Although this work is very different to mine, I really enjoyed viewing the work in this format.

I like the way us as a viewer has the choice to navigate around the website not only with the mouse in the top, left and bottom by clicking you may also use the arrow keys on the keyboard. Although this is a minute feature added I believe this is what separates a strong photographic website from an amature first website.
